Do you remember the 2007 film Grindhouse? What about any of the mock trailers, like Thanksgiving, that appeared during the Planet Terror and Death Proof double feature?

If you don’t remember them either, welcome to the club. I vaguely remember there were some now that I’ve been reminded about them, but I couldn’t have told you what they were.

However, thanks to Screen Rant, I learned there were five fake Grindhouse trailers. In addition to Thanksgiving, there was also Machete, Werewolf Women of the SS, Don’t, and Hobo with a Shotgun.

Different directors were responsible for each trailer. Robert Rodriguez (who also directed the Planet Terror portion of Grindhouse) created the Machete trailer. He ended up releasing it as a feature-length film in 2010 starring Danny Trejo. And in 2013, Machete Kills came out. So far, it’s the only Grindhouse fake trailer turned real movie with a sequel.

Jason Eisener, John Davies, and Rob Cotterill created the fake Hobo with a Shotgun trailer. It was released as a movie starring Rutger Hauer in 2011.

Rob Zombie’s Werewolf Women of the SS trailer and Edgar Wright’s Don’t have yet to make the transition from mock trailer to real movie. However, people never forgot Eli Roth’s fake Thanksgiving trailer and held out hope it, too, would one day be made into an actual movie.

Well, it has. And the trailer for this holiday slasher looks good! Let’s check it out.
