Technically, The Mortuary Haunted Mansion wants couples (plural) to enter their Blood Wedding Ceremony contest. As they put it, the popular New Orleans haunted attraction is “a haunted house…in a real haunted house.” This year, their theme is “Blood Wedding,” but they’re also hosting an actual wedding—or not (we’ll get to that)—for one lucky couple on Friday, October 13.
The Mortuary’s History
The Mortuary Haunted Mansion’s owner, Jeff Borne, explained, “It’s not your typical haunted attraction.” Located inside a three-story Victorian mansion circa 1872, it operated as a real funeral home for almost 100 years.
Borne has allowed paranormal investigators from all over the world to investigate. Many experienced supernatural activity that led them to conclude the mansion is actually haunted.
With the combination of real spirits with high-end special effects, animatronics, theatrical sets, and professional actors, it’s easy to see why visitors rank it as one of the best haunted houses in the country.
The Invitation
Here’s your cordial invite to this year’s haunted house from The Mortuary:
This Halloween, your presence is requested for YOUR Blood Wedding at The Mortuary Haunted Mansion… We Insist! This year, The Mortuary’s theme is “Blood Wedding” where the mansion will host a unique setting where visitors/victims will be the guests for a scream filled vampire wedding.
The Contest
But the Mortuary is also inviting the public to enter to win their own private “Blood Wedding Ceremony.”
Not engaged or serious about getting married? No problem. They stipulate “real wedding optional.” Whether you’re ready to exchange real “’til death do us part” vows or not—or renew them—The Morutary will provide a “Master of Ceremonies” or Minister.
They’ll also provide the winning couple with vampire makeup, costumes, and wedding photos.
To enter, record a short 1-minute or less video explaining why you want to win and why The Mortuary should choose you. Then, Direct Message it to The Mortuary’s Facebook or Instagram page. They’re all about picking finalists who have created captivating and original content.
They’ll choose the winning couple on October 9. Their private ceremony, which includes 20 of their guests, will take place five days later on Friday the 13th.
There’s no purchase necessary. You can find all the details on their site. (Link below.)

Check-In
Bride, groom, or guest: Would you like to attend a Blood Wedding in a haunted house?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
I’d love to be a guest, for sure!
Samesies! lol
