“Did you guys know that there’s a Harry Potter themed village located in Asheville, North Carolina?” Allison Reynolds (a.k.a. @raleighwanderlust on Instagram) asked in her Reels that showcased the North Carolina lifestyle and travel digital creator’s exploration of the property.
No, but she had me at “The Hogwarts inspired exterior, the movie props, the characters, the decorations and the insane mountain view’s will make this one of the most spectacular stays on Airbnb ever…”
Well, that and I was curious how closely the atmosphere resembled Hogsmeade and Hogwarts at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando. I’d had a blast visiting both during my Halloween Horror Nights Lights On tour adventure last year. The only drawback was that you couldn’t stay overnight in them.
Maybe this place in North Carolina would fill that void? Short of going there myself, there was one other way to find out.
As I watched the video, I couldn’t help but think of the fantasy-themed Ancient Lore Village in Knoxville, Tennessee. It offers “luxury accommodations and enchanting amenities” in a setting heavily influenced by The Lord of the Rings. It definitely has a similar feel.
It also prompted me to click through to @earthandskydwellings to find out more. Specifically, when the opening day for this Harry-Potter inspired experience will be.
About the Harry Potter-Inspired Mystic Village
Mystic Village will consist of six “store fronts and dwellings,” including the Apothecary, General Store, Tavern, Book Store, Magic Shop, and General Mercantile.
Each unit can accommodate up to four people, and each has one and a half bathrooms (except for the Apothecary) and kitchenettes.
Prices vary depending on whether you choose a non-refundable or refundable rate but expect to pay around $300+ per night.
It officially opens on August 30, 2024, but Earth & Sky Dwellings are already taking reservations. As one commenter quipped, “Bet you immediately get booked up to 2 years out.”
It wouldn’t surprise me.

Other Themed Earth & Sky Dwellings
Mystic Village isn’t their only Harry Potter-themed stay. They also offer “Wizards Hollow,” a truly magical-looking treehouse cabin.
“Dragons Knoll” and “The Aerie” (also a treehouse cabin) evoke a definite Lord of the Rings feel. The “Phoenix” and its X-Wing fighter-looking exterior ooze Star Wars vibes.
For a truly royal indulgence that could either be Harry Potter-ish or Game of Thrones, they offer the “Mystic Castle.”

Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.

Asheville is a fun little city… 🙂
