As the seasons transition from winter to spring, and temperatures rise with summer’s promise, a funny thing happens to Halloween lovers. We already sense fall on the horizon, as distant as it may be. Thank goodness for the advent of the magical period known as Halfway to Halloween.
It’s not an official weird holiday or observation. Yet. But there are plenty of Halfway to Halloween-themed paracon, horror fests, and Halloween events at the end of April/beginning of May.
For example, US Ghost Adventures Halfway to Halloween Spooktacular, a nationwide celebration in some of America’s most haunted cities.
“The supernatural doesn’t take a break, and neither do we,” said Lance Zaal, Founder and CEO of US Ghost Adventures. “Halfway to Halloween is our way of giving ghost lovers a taste of the paranormal magic before October arrives.”
Let’s explore the when, where, and how they’ll do it.

Check-In
Will you dress up for Halloween this year? If so, do you know what you’ll be yet?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
