At the beginning of this month I received the following email from a teacher named Sarah:
I just wanted to let you know that, as a student teacher, I’ve been referencing your web page (https://hauntjaunts.net/blog/find-haunted-places/) for our history lessons. I know it might sound a little weird, but I like to include a couple lessons on haunted historical places. It’s a fun addition to our history classes, and your page has been most helpful…thanks for making it!
I hope you don’t mind me asking, but is there any way you could include a web page my student found? He was pretty excited to share it: “Local Favorites – America’s Famous Hauntings” – http://www.localpages.com/content/local-favorites-americas-famous-hauntings.html
It’s a great collection of historically haunted places from all over the US. I figured you might have a use for it as an additional resource on that page, or maybe somewhere else on your website. I think my student would really get a kick out of seeing his suggestion published…His name is Kyle and we’re in Grade 5, if you would like to give him a little “shout out”! Let me know. Hope I could help!
Help? Holy smokes! That email made my day!
I meant to post all this much sooner than this, but the last couple of weeks have been nutty busy. However, today I’m finally getting around to it.
Of course I made sure to include Kyle’s great find of a link under the Lists of Haunted Places section on our Find Real Haunted Places page. While I was at it, I also Stumbled it, because it’s a note-worthy find. Kyle, great job!
And Ms. Sarah, thank you so much for letting Haunt Jaunts be a part of your classroom. Your email absolutely tickled me pink. I’m so happy you took the time to contact me and share a new resource for me to add to the list.
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
Awww, what a sweet email. You just never know who you are reaching with your blog.
Thanks Lewis. Back atcha!!!!!
That’s the truth, Ruth!!!! (Couldn’t figure out a word to rhyme with Adsila… lol 😉
Excellent! What you’re doing is very important!
I was surfing round for inspiration for a radio segment I prerecord to go to air when I came across the teachers email. It made me smile. I made a page of links on my website for Kyle.
Oh yay. So glad you came across something that made you smile. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment saying so, Diane!
Hate to say it, but that email is spam… I have lost count of the number of these I have received from different ‘teachers’ and ‘students’…
You know, I wondered if it was a subversive link building ploy. So you think that’s what it really is? Makes sense. But makes me sort of sad too. Ah well. Thanks for weighing in.
