My 7 Links

I first saw a “My 7 Links” post on Travel for Love last week. Loved it! I thought it was such a clever idea. Not to mention, I’ve recently found that blog so that was a neat way to catch up on some of their stunning and mesmerizing posts.

Then I saw Red Nomad’s 7 links.  Loved it, because I also very much enjoy that blog. Plus, I was happy to see the public toilet series land under her Most Popular category. (I think that it such a clever and novel series of travel articles.)

But to my surprise, when I got to Red’s 5 Blogger Nominations, there was Haunt Jaunts! I was soooooo excited. I didn’t know who I could ask to be nominated, but I was going to find someone. Luckily Red spared me from having to grovel. (Thanks, Red!)

Even more exciting, HJ is now on the official Nominated Bloggers list. (Which I think is such a great idea. Helps to avoid duplicate nominations that these things so often generate.)

Anyway, if you haven’t yet seen a “My 7 Links” post yet, here’s the deal. Tripbase started it. Here’s the link to the complete rules, but in a nutshell this is what you have to do:

  1. Get nominated by someone in order to participate.
  2. Publish 1 link in the 7 categories from past posts.
  3. Nominate up to 5 bloggers.

Nomination? Check.

Now for the hard part: My 7 links. (Well, it should be easy. As Katie from Tripbase put it, “This shouldn’t take you long to do – don’t over-think it!” She must not suffer from Indecisiveitis.)

MY MOST BEAUTIFUL POST

The 14 Most Romantic Cities We’ve Jaunted To So Far. It gets the honor because beauty and romance go hand in hand, don’t they? Plus, it’s loaded with pretty pictures. Such as the one below.

MY MOST POPULAR POST

As Red pointed out in her post, there are different ways to interpret popular. (ie. Is it the post with the most page views, most comments, one that inspired people to follow the blog?)

Key West’s Robert the Doll continues to be the most popular from a pageview perspective. Most popular as far as most comments is Cheeseman Park – Denver, CO. If there is a post in particular that sparked anyone to follow, I’m not aware of it.

MY MOST CONTROVERSIAL POST

“Officially Haunted Places” – Fact or Faked? I unintentionally pissed someone off when they felt I said Ft. Mifflin was faking its hauntings. I didn’t say that, but somehow it got construed that I did. That was one of my first posts to get some very strong opinions.

MY MOST HELPFUL POST

Um, I’m gonna have to be a little selfish here and say this whole blog has been helpful –to me. After all, it was my “get off the couch” project to help me get through my cancer. It gave me something to focus on, a reason to keep living. It continues to do that.

A POST WHOSE SUCCESS SURPRISED ME

It’s the same one that’s also the most popular, the one about Robert the Doll. Don’t know what it is about that creepy little doll that fascinates people so much, but it sure does draw in the visitors.

A POST I FELT DIDN’T GET THE ATTENTION IT DESERVED

Madame Mroch’s Prognostications: “Brace Yourself, April is Upon Us.” In 2010 I wrote a similar blog forecasting havoc was a’comin’. People poo pooed me then too. This year, like last year, planets were aligned just right to contribute to April’s chaos –and, once again, it was full of history-making chaos. I feel like Cassandra from the Greek myths. No one listened to her predictions either.

THE POST I’M MOST PROUD OF

The End of My Hitchhiker Haunting Me. No one except perhaps my husband will ever understand the catastrophic emotional and physical distress I endured in 2008 when I was striken with lymphoma, or the hell I went through trying to beat it in 2009. That I survived to bid farewell to my cancer is something I’m very proud of, not to mention humbled by, indeed.
