I have to give credit to Twitter again for this (potentially) interesting find. I put potentially in parenthesis because I don’t have a lot of info about this site yet or what all it’s going to entail. The little info I do have sparked my interest, though. I figured it was worth passing along.
From @kreepykrawlys Twitter profile page I learned this info:
Join us in helping create our Kreepy Horror Host for our Major New Haunted Attraction.
Our Essay Contest officially starts January 2010.
Sign up now to be notified as soon as the site opens!
Your imagination and entry fee could win you prizes and cold hard cash!
“Haunted Attraction” and “Essay Contest” both caught my eye.
“What’s this all about?” I wondered.
I saw there was a link to a website, so I clicked and was taken to what there so far is of the Kreepy Krawly’s website. There wasn’t a lot more info there. Just copy about celebrity judges and 13 finalists win valuable prizes, with the top prize valued over $10,000.
I don’t know about you, but ten grand would fund an awful lot of Haunt Jaunts. Plus, I like writing essays, so…I signed up to be notified.
Either I’m a sucker and can expect to receive more spam now, or this could be something interesting. I’ll let you know when I do. Unless of course any of you figure it out first. Then feel free to let me know!
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
I’m curious to find out what the entry fee is…Could be cool. I’m guessing maybe coming up wth a story to tell the theme of a haunted attraction? I wish! I’ve had a dream idea for a haunted attraction for years. Wish I had the financial backing to make it real.
Hey Chad! AH! One part of me was suspicious because of the lack of info. Another part curious. But I never thought about the “valued at” scenario you posed. But the Red Bull analogy you used cracked me up. So thanks for my late night laugh!!! (At first when I saw you had left a comment, before I read what you wrote I thought you might be writing to say you’d designed their site or did their graphics or something!)
I’m wondering what the entry fee will be too. And what kind of contest. Neat to tell the them of the haunted attraction. That’s not a bad idea… Hopefully we’ll find out soon…and hopefully it won’t be a scam!
Be real careful with that “valued at” – there’s way too much wiggle room. All it means is that SOMEbody is willing to say that their grand prize is worth $10,000; I could say that about the can of Red Bull on my desk, but you might not agree. 😉
The longer they go without being specific about the prizes, the more suspicious I’ll get. It’s a drawback of being a suspicious person, I admit.
