The Dead Files will sport a new co-host when new episodes of The Dead Files return on September 7. There’s been a lot of speculation about why Cindy Kaza is stepping into the role and what happened to Amy Allan. Did she really step down, or was she forced out? (You know how easy it is for conspiracy theories to spread these days.)
Well, we have some new info. Amy Allan handpicked Cindy Kaza to replace her.
I submitted some questions to Kaza about that. I’m curious how all that transpired —and why she ultimately agreed to sign on. If she replies, I’ll be sure to share her answers.
For now, let’s get to know her a little better.
Cindy Kaza Applies Her Talents to The Dead Files
Much like her predecessor did, Kaza will use her keen “clair” senses —clairaudience (hearing voices), clairvoyance (seeing images), clairsentience (recognizing feelings), and claircognizance (knowing)— to gather information about each case. Then she’ll compare that with what her fellow co-host, Steve DiSchiavi, a retired New York City Police detective, dug up.
Also, as Allan did, Cindy isn’t privy to any information about the episode’s scenario or specifics of each show. She doesn’t know what location she’s headed to until moments before she arrives at each site.
Something else I found interesting is that Kaza compares what she does to playing a combination of Pictionary, Charades, and Telephone. Talk about a hell of a game —in some cases, literally!
Cindy Kaza’s Gifts
Kaza’s first memorable encounter with a spirit happened when she was ten years old, and a girl from her elementary school died in a tragic car accident. That evening, the school friend showed herself in spirit form at Kaza’s bedside. Shortly after her death, Cindy woke up in the middle of the night to find the girl standing directly beside her bed.
But Kaza never told a soul. She dismissed the chilling experience as just a dream and never spoke about it. In fact, she shied away from her otherworldly abilities until her early 20s, when she realized she was continually having mediumistic experiences and it no longer served her to deny her talents.
Since her “awakening,” Kaza has searched for the truth about her gifts and tested the limits of her multifaceted abilities. She’s appeared on The Holzer Files and Ghosts of Devil’s Perch and has made multiple guest appearances on several Travel Channel and Max shows, including Fright Club, Portals to Hell, Lost in the Wild, Conjuring Kesha, and Ghost Brothers. She’s also appeared in several Shock Docs, including Scream: The True Story, Ed Gein: The Real Psycho, Ghosts of Flight 401, and Michigan Hell House.
One of her true passions is channeling spirits through art. She’s known for her ability to draw spirits, especially clients’ spirit guides and the spirits she encounters at haunted locations. One day, she’d like to have an art show where she displays the spirits she’s encountered on her journey.
Cindy Kaza Events
Through the remainder of 2023, you have a lot of opportunities to catch up with Kaza in person. She’s touring the United States and doing live events. Stops include Orlando, Tampa, Naples, Port Charlotte, Syracuse, and Albany, just to name a few. (You can find the entire list on her Events page.)
During these live events, Kaza connects audience members with their loved ones on the other side.

Check-In
Does knowing Amy Allan personally chose Cindy Kaza as her replacement make the change easier? (If you were among those unhappy with it, that is.)
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
I does make me trust her more from the start. Amy is the real deal, I think, so I’m sure she can recognize other “real deals.”
I like Cindy. She’s going to be a great replacement.
Ooo! Great way to look at that, Vera! Good point!
I love Cindy Kaza! She is awesome!
When I saw Cindy Kaza the first time on the Dead File show, she was amazing. I liked her right away. She seems right on spot on the people’s suspicions on haunting. I do agree that she is going to be a great replacement.
