I’m not going to lie. I’m a little surprised not to see Matriarch on the list of Screamfest 2022 award winners. During my interview with its festival director, Rachel Belofsky, I asked her which of this year’s movies left a mark that would be hard to erase. Without hesitating, she said, “Matriarch…I emailed them after I saw it and said, ‘That was just twisted. Right on. That was great. Good job, guys.’”

Luckily Matriarch premiered on Hulu on October 21, so that’s available to watch. But now I’m also super curious to check out the Screamfest 2022 award winners. Especially the ones that won in more than one category, such as Melchior The Apothecary (from Estonia), The Domestic (from South Africa), and 8 Found Dead (U.S.).

Let’s check out all the winners. If I could find a trailer, I included those as well.

  1. La Nueva’s trailer is simplistic and subtle and scary. It’s perfect!
