April isn’t as busy as February was with the Valentine’s Day haunted houses, or as March with the St. Patrick’s Day haunted houses (which there were a lot more of this year). However, April still holds it’s own with, what else? Spring Break and Easter-themed haunted houses. Here’s some seasonal highlights from the Halloween Cons & Haunted House Events page.
I’ll start with one that’s my personal fave, because I love the name: Ghouls Gone Wild at Mystery Manor in Omaha, Nebraska. That’ll be open two weekends: April 5 and 6, and again on April 12 and 13.
All Saints Lunatic Asylum will also be holding an Easter Haunted House April 12 and 13.
And what’s Easter without Easter eggs? The Bridgeport Gore Grounds in Bridgeport, Michigan, has you covered with a A Creepy Easter Egg Hunt on April 19.
On April 20, the haunted Randolph County Asylum and Infirmary in Winchester, Indiana, will hold its 2nd Annual Glow in the Dark Easter Egg Hunt. Which really isn’t a haunted house. It’s more of a haunted place, but it’s Easter related and on haunted hallowed grounds, so it fits, right?
Red Vein Haunted House is also feeling the springtime spookiness. They’ll be doing their Spring-o-Ween: A Halfway to Halloween Festival on April 27 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. While they’re haunted house won’t be open, they will have a spooky photo booth, costume contests with prizes, games, demos, vendors, and live music from League of Space Pirates, The Embalmers, and Alchemy’s Muse.
And here’s a fun one for Tax Time: Mayor Joseph will be looking to collect your soul at the Haunted Town Hall haunted house on April 12 and 13 in Lafayette, Ohio.
There’s a few more haunted houses open for April that aren’t exactly spring-themed, but they’re haunted houses open this month. They are:
- April 4-6, 2019: The Rot – Containment Haunted House – Lithia Springs, GA
- April 5, 6 & 7 and 12, 13 & 14, 2019: Sweet Dreams Scare House– Easley, SC
- April 19 & 20, 2019: Zombie Apocalypse Live at 13th Floor Haunted House Chicago – Melrose Park, IL

Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
