The Twilight Saga has Team Jacob and Team Edward, but it’s not the only paranormal phenomenon with sides. More and more I’ve noticed fans pledging their loyalty to what I’ve come to think of as Team GAC (a.k.a. Ghost Adventures) or Team TAPS (a.k.a. Ghost Hunters).
Where have I been noticing this? Where I notice so many other paranormal trends: Twitter.
That’s where I’ve seen the most Twibbons displayed. (Although people can also put them on their Facebook pics too. But it’s not as popular to do that there as it is on Twitter. Plus, it’s easier to find and befriend fellow GA or GH fans on Twitter.)
Most people who watch Ghost Adventures also watch Ghost Hunters and vice versa. But, as with anything, favorites emerge.
So which Twibbons have I noticed the most of? GAC. (Which semi-sort of surprised me really. I thought nothing short of maybe Josh Gates and Destination Truth could compete with the likes of Jay and Grant.)
Interestingly enough, today I discovered it wasn’t just my imagination. The TAPS Supporter Twibbon had 189 supporters. The GAC Twibbon had 215.
Well, 216 now. Today, thanks to composing this post, I did something I’ve been meaning to do for a while now and made my allegiance to Team GAC public by adding the GAC Twibbon to my Twitter profile pic. (I’d sort of refrained from endorsing one versus the other, but Zak and crew have grown on me quite a bit.)
So which team are you? And are you willing (or have you already) made your allegiance public by adding a Twibbon to your profile pic?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
I’m probably not going to be attaching a ribbon, but I’m team GAC. I just like to see them having a helluva lot of fun and going to more unusual places.
Agreed! I like their more playful and fun approach. GH seems to take itself too seriously anymore.
YAY Joyce! Love it! Thanks for dropping by to say so!!!
