When I heard about Danny and Michael Philippou’s forthcoming A24 movie, Bring Her Back, I dropped everything to watch the teaser. What fresh horror had the Talk To Me directors concocted for us now?
Mostly, I wanted to get ahead of the curve this time and not make the same mistake I had when Talk To Me was first promoted. Sadly, I dismissed it after reading the synopsis and didn’t even watch the trailer at first. Eventually, because there was so much chatter about it, I did. I had to admit, it looked better than I expected from the description I’d read, but I wasn’t going to rush out to see it.
Nor did I do that when everyone who did raved about it. I waited until it started streaming. Then I understood what all the fuss was about.
I guess that’s my longwinded way of saying the Bring Her Back teaser trailer triggered my FOMO.
What does the Bring Her Back teaser trailer show us?
Bring Her Back‘s teaser reveals about as much as its one-line description:
A brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother.
That’s not much to go on, but it gives us a general idea what to expect. The teaser doesn’t offer much more, but it does provide some haunting visuals and sounds that gave me a lot of anxiety.
For starters, I’m hoping nothing happens to the cat in the movie. (Leave the feline alone!)
Second, what do the words “Let me out,” “Let me die,” “and Let her die” mean?
Then there’s the woman who cries, “He’s going to bring her back!”
Who’s “her” and are the woman’s tears happy and expectant, or horrified and pleading?
And what is going on with the circle and the naked man in the last scene? Did it give anyone else Hereditary vibes?
I don’t know if Bring Her Back will be the solid follow up to Talk to Me that fans might hope. Guess we’ll find out when it hits theaters on May 30.

How did you feel after watching the Bring Her Back teaser?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
That totally creeped me out. Let’s bring someone back from the dead; what could possibly go wrong? LOL!
