Haunt Jaunts is going to be undergoing some changes. Halloween being over meant it was time to take down the Halloween greeting pic on HJ’s Facebook page. While I was at it I decided to create a new logo. Mainly because a couple months back Debe Branning complained we were using the same ghost car in our branding.
The ghost car is part of a pack of clip art. I had “dressed up” my ghost car, but still…the image was the same. Even though I was within my rights to use it as I saw fit, and as much as I loved the little ghost mobile, I value being original more.
So…I designed a new logo. Since I’m feeling better today and have Internet access, I was finally able to post it. (It’s been a heck of a week so far and it’s only Wednesday as I write this. That’s all I’ve got to say.)
While I was at it, I messed with the sidebars some too. I was trying to clean things up a bit and eliminate some of the clutter. Not sure I was successful, but I tried.
Also, Lewis Powell inspired me by posting pics of his real-life bookshelf full of books to be read. My pile is much smaller and a heck of a lot messier than his. Thank goodness for widgets. It allowed me to create a “what’s waiting to be read on my bookshelf” carousel (see the left hand sidebar) that’s a whole lot more organized than the stack I’ve got going on in real life.
FROM NOW UNTIL JAN 1, 2012 IT’S GOING TO BE LESS ACTIVE AROUND HERE
I hope to post some blogs here and there, as well as Tweet and post links on FB like I do, the next couple of months. However, I’ll probably be a lot more quiet. Not only because the holidays are looming, and as we all know Life gets busier than ever, but because I’m actually getting back to my writing roots.
I’m polishing up my first Haunt Jaunts book as well as doing NaNoWriMo this month. The fiction bug has bitten me again so…I’m getting back into that game. It’s been far too long since I had a book out. I needed to take a break from all that when I was dealing with my cancer a few years back. But now I’m strong again and ready to reconnect to those roots, so…that’s what I’m going to do.
I don’t know if any will read this or care that I’ll be scaling way back both on following other blogs as well as tending to my own for the next two months. For any diehards I felt I owed you an explanation. I didn’t want anyone thinking I’m abandoning them or the blog.
But watch out because when I do post, as well as when I come back in earnest, it’s going to be with the purpose of taking HJ to whole new heights. Scarier, fresher, more fun heights than I’ve ever dared attempt climb before. I plan on bringing the same attitude here that I bring to the tennis court and my tennis game. What does that all mean?
I don’t know exactly. I’m just planning on coming in with a different level of intensity than I ever have before. I don’t know how much Life I’ll get to live. I plan on making the absolute most of whatever I’m given.
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
