I love pingbacks and trackbacks. I love when I can leave them on other people’s blogs, and I get tickled pink when I find them on any of my posts.
Take this morning for instance. I logged on to try and do some last minute online Christmas shopping. (It’s not truly “last minute” but for me it is. Normally I’m done by now. But vacation threw me off, then this week…wow. Monday started off great. Very promising. Got lots done. But Tuesday everything got thrown up in chaos again when I found a stray puppy outside our door trying desperately to seek shelter from the horrendously bad weather we were having then. Of course I took him in until I could find his people. So far I haven’t found them and he’s still here –with all of his puppy power! Murph and the cats don’t know what to make of him. But I digress…)
Back to my excitement this morning. I quickly scanned email and saw a pingback from somewhere new-to-me. Specifically, pointing back to this blog on Hunting Leisure Knowledge: Ghost Hunting Has to Move Forward to Paranormal Investigation. (Which actually provides a snippet and link back to the full story by the same name originally posted on TheSupernatural.info.)
My post, “A Few More Thoughts About Ghost TV Shows,” was one of the Related Blogs mentioned. Woohoo!
But then I felt completely humbled and honored when I saw who else I was keeping company with. Mainly my hero Autumnforest of Ghost Hunting Theories. (The related post of hers they referenced was “Riding the Paranormal Highway: Psychometry.” Excellent!)
But it’s a big deal to me to be referenced with her, because her work is always garnering notice. In fact, Hunting Leisure Knowledge actually featured one of her stories as a lead post. (“Ghost Hunting Theories: Residual Hauntings – How Do They Record?”)
That something I wrote shared a reference with her…talk about validation and feeling like “I’ve arrived.” (Where I’ve arrived to, I don’t know, but that’s how I feel!)
The other related posts included:
- Paranormal News Insiders “Are We Ruining Ghost Hunting Sites?“
- Ghost, The Supernatural and the Paranormal’s “Ghost Hunting Equipment and Paranormal Software on a Budget“
- Capital Ghost Talk’s “HPI Chronicles: A Paranormal Night in Truckee”
- X News Now’s “Ghost Hunting 101 Paranormal Safety”
Groovy! Thanks to the reference and resulting pingback alerting me to who I’m keeping company with, I also found some new blogs to follow!
(Which is good and bad. I’m still trying to catch up on all my reading from the rest I follow. Darn vacations anyway! Once I get caught up from taking this last one I’m going to need another!)
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
Wow! I had no idea. Thanks for giving me a heads up. That’s so wild to think someone thought my stuff was noteworthy enough to refer to. I see they had a few of my things on there. Hope it helped people in some way. That’s what this crazy-blog world is for – exchanging ideas, bettering knowledge, deepening convictions, opening minds… You are definitely one of the leaders in that!
Me a leader? Aw geez. I’m just trying to be there, you know? But you…that’s a true leader in this part of the paranormal blogging niche we travel in! I was VERY psyched to see anything I’d written be mentioned in the same place as your stuff. Made my weekend!
