Ever since word first started spreading about The Haunted House Restaurant being built in Cleveland, Ohio, people have been dying to know when it would open. The new horror-themed restaurant was aiming to welcome dinners —er, I mean diners— as early as late June in the Cleveland Heights area. It’ll be a few weeks past that goal, but Cleveland’s Haunted House Restaurant grand opening date has been announced as July 20, 2021.
It’s the creation of DJ Ryan Wolf Gullatt, who is the official DJ for the Cleveland Browns, and his partners, Andre Scott, Jeremiah Burks, and Christopher Thomas. They’ve recruited celebrity TV chef Darnell “SuperChef” Ferguson (Ultimate Thanksgiving Challenge, Guy’s Grocery Games, Tournament of Champions, and Food Fantasies) as their Senior Executive Chef. Ferguson also owns the SuperChefs restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky.
The atmosphere sounds pretty cool, with an emphasis on a movie theater aesthetic. Instead of a traditional desk or stand, a ticket booth will serve as the host area and staff will wear usher uniforms. They’ll also display original art that pays homage to some of horror’s biggest icons like Pennywise, Slimer, and Frankenstein’s monster.
Speaking of Slimer and Pennywise, those will also be items on their menu according to a couple of their Instagram posts so far. Specifically, their “brinner” (breakfast-for-dinner) menu.
Did your heart skip a beat about the breakfast-for-dinner part? Mine did. The horror movie theme had of course instantly grabbed my interest, but they sweetened the deal with breakfast-for-dinner offerings.
Bib? Check! Knife and fork? Check! Ready to eat? Check, check, check! (They say “breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” It’s the most important of mine because it’s the meal I like best. It’s implied you eat it first thing, but really, I say breakfast any time of the day works!)

Check-In
I’m not exactly —or should I say eggactly— sure what’s in either the Slimer or the Pennywise, but just from their names alone, which would you try first?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
I’d go with the Slimer for sure, haha, just to freak out my hubby when I order.:-) I mean “Pennywise” sounds kinda cute if you don’t know who Pennywise is.
LOL! I bet he’ll be wondering if you plate will contain something slimy! (I think it’s more of a green waffle sandwich, if I’m understanding the photo correctly. lol)
