I learned two things from a Tweet by Pamela K. Kinney: (a) that Creatures n Crooks Bookshoppe will host a multi-author signing on September 12, and (b) Creatures ‘n Crooks will close at the end of September.
This merited both a “COOL!: and a “Bummer!” response.
I’ve never personally been to Creatures ‘n Crooks Bookshoppe, but as someone who enjoys both reading and writing horror and mystery I knew of it. If I ever made a Haunt Jaunt to Virginia (which is on my list of things to do) I hoped to make a Jaunt to the bookstore.
Now it looks like I won’t be able to. Unless I hurry up and plan a Jaunt to Virginia before the end of September, but that doesn’t seem likely.
However, if you’ll be in the area and have never been, I highly recommend checking it out. Bonus, according to their website everything in the store is on sale.
And if you want to attend their last big multi-author book signing, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on September 12 Creatures ‘n Crooks will host 15 horror and mystery writers. (Including Pamela Kinney, whose name may sound familiar because I interviewed about her books Haunting Virginia and Haunting Richmond.)
Creatures ‘n Crooks Bookshoppe is located at: 3156 West Cary Street Cary Court Park & Shop, Richmond, VA. Phone numbers: 804-340-0277 or toll-free (888) 533-5303.
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
This site rocks!
