When I started Movie Monday last week I featured two. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to do that every week, but it seems I will again this week also.
I totally just stumbled across this next movie by accident. Excuse the pun which is about to follow, but this movie might bring fresh blood to the vampire-genre. It is a really interesting premise, and looks very promising as far as movies go.
Enjoy the trailer of Daybreakers for your second installment on this Movie Monday.
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
I saw the trailer recently and I thought it was an interesting new idea, but I have to admit that it seemed to turn vampirism into a sterile process. I think the best part of the whole thing is the gritty rawness of the hunt and feeding… (shivers) I’ll probably end up seeing this one because I can’t resist vampire stories, and I like the dude from “Jurassic Park.”
That’s funny…I think the sterile process is what intrigued me (but I couldn’t put a name on that, so thanks!) and made me take notice. Because if vamp’s are so intelligent and they did overrun us, then what would happen to their food source? (But also I liked the parallels with our current world..like us running out of oil) And the other reason why the “sterile” aspect intrigued me was because it’s quite a contrast to vamps that are just raw hunting and killing machines (like those in 30 Days of Night…those were probably the most gruesome vamps I’ve ever seen!) Thanks for the comment. Oh, and I like the dude from Jurassic Park too! (LOVED him in Dead Calm!) And Ethan Hawke. Was curious to see him in a vamp movie.
