If diving with sharks isn’t your thing, but you’re curious about scuba diving in general, an incredible new indoor dive pool with an abandoned sunken city, its own cave system, and photo ops galore recently opened in Dubai. It’s called Deep Dive Dubai, and whoa. It’s unlike any other dive pool in the world.

Prior to 2021, Italy, Belgium, and France all had bragging rights to pretty impressive indoor scuba diving pools. However, leave it to Dubai to create one that blows all the rest out of the water.

At 60 meters deep and holding the same amount of water as six Olympic-sized swimming pools, Deep Dive Dubai is now the deepest indoor diving pool in the world. Which added another world record to the ones Dubai already holds, along with the world’s tallest building, fastest roller coaster, and not only the world’s longest zipline but also the world’s longest urban zipline, just to name a few. (Literally just a few. When it comes to holding world records, if your first guess is Dubai for just about anything, it’s a reasonable answer because it’s home to dozens!)

But Deep Dive Dubai is more than just a boring old humongous dive pool. It’s got things you’d never expect to see underwater. The sunken city is complete with graffiti, city scenes, cars, a foosball table, and even a toilet! There’s also a “cave” system that runs between the various areas and scenes. It’s one of those things you’d definitely want photos and videos of. Speaking of…

There are 56 underwater cameras in Deep Dive Dubai. Filmographers and photographers are welcome to bring their own, but it’s also designed to be used as an underwater film studio. They even took into account the lighting and have a way to adjust it for night scenes!

It’s not quite open to the public yet. But when it is scuba divers of all levels and free divers will be welcome to explore Deep Dive Dubai.

  1. Wow, this sounds SO fun! Haha, so does the world’s fastest roller coaster!

  2. For some reason the 47 Meters Down sequel keeps coming to mind, the one where they’re in caves. I think this pool actually sounds incredibly scary.

Oh my…I can see why it would make you think of that sequel! I can also see why this seems a little scary. It definitely has a creepy factor to it. It’s actually why I decided to write about it. You confirmed I made a good choice! THANK YOU!
