I discovered the American Association of Psychics thanks to the Weird Holidays & Observances listings. The first week of August is National Psychic Week, and the first Sunday is National Psychic Day. (Except until today I had it incorrectly listed as the first Monday in August. Whoops. Fixed now!)
Anyway, I was Googling National Psychic Week and the website for the American Association of Psychics came up. Curious, I clicked around to discover more about it. Here’s what I found.
The Mission
The A.A.O.P. has a Mission Statement under the About tab on its site. Sadly, part of it looks to be cut off.
However, here’s the important points I gleaned from the readable parts:
- It was founded by Rosemary McArthur, a.k.a. The Celtic Lady.
- The goal is education about reputable psychics,.
- They also want to bring together light workers who are ethical, honorable, professional and have integrity.
The Psychics
The A.A.O.P. doesn’t specify how many member psychics they have, but near as I can tell it’s just shy of 50.
They’re listed by state as well as by category. Speaking of…
Categories of Psychics
Did you know there were so many different types of psychics? Or consultants/light workers as many prefer to call themselves these days.
I didn’t. Or perhaps specialties is a better way of thinking about it.
Anyway, the A.A.O.P.’s website has a Featured Psychics by Category tab which lists the following types:
- Akashic Records
- Angel Consultants
- Animal Communicators
- Astrology/Numerology
- Clairvoyants/Clairsentients
- Crystal Consultants
- Divine Channels
- Fire Walker Coach
- Intuitive Coaches
- Intuitive Consultants
- Life Coaches
- Oracle Consultants
- Past Life Consultants
- Pet Psychics
- Psychic Consultants

- Psychic Mediums

Check-In
Have you ever had a psychic reading?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
I had no idea there were that many different kinds of psychics. I always learn something when I visit Haunt Jaunts!
Thank you, Priscilla. I love all of your comments, but you have no idea how much I love hearing you “learned” something. That will make more sense if I can finally conjure up my next big project. It involves learning in a major way!
I am in need of a professional house blessing. I can explain in detail. Please contact.
Hi Yolanda. I’m sorry to hear you’re in need of help. That’s not my area of expertise but I hope you’re able to find someone who can help you.
