COllage of sneak peek at Disney Parks games coming Fall 2020

I saw an article on Popsugar about a Hocus Pocus game Disney will release this Fall, but it also referred to a “shriek peek” post on the Disney Parks Blog with information about new Haunted Mansion and Nightmare Before Christmas games coming soon too.

Well, actually the Disney Parks Blog post showcased all sorts of neat new Haunted Mansion stuff coming in time for Halloween, including hats, shirts and Funko Pop! figures. However, I’ll just focus on the games.

Hocus Pocus: The Game

If you’re a fan of the movie Hocus Pocus, the game box may look familiar. It’s designed to look like “Book.”

Other things the board game has in common with the movie is that players have to work together to thwart the Sanderson sisters. Ruin their potions and save the children of Salem before sunrise to win the game.

Characters from the movie like Binx the cat and Billy Butcherson are also part of the game.

Nightmare Before Christmas Funkoverse Strategy Game

I’m not much of a Funko Pop! fan, but that may change this year. They’re coming out with “The Organist” from the Haunted Mansion this year, which is super cute, but then look at the ones that come with the Nightmare Before Christmas-themed Funkoverse Strategy Game. It comes with Funko Pop! game pieces.

I think Jack Skellington and Sally are always the most popular, but Oogie Boogie? How fun is that?

There’s not a lot of info on how to play, but it’s likely the same as other Funkoverse games (ie. Harry Potter, DC, and Rick and Morty). Which means the Funko Pop! figures will be exclusive to the game and not ones you can find anywhere else.

Haunted Mansion: Call of the Spirits

The Haunted Mansion: Call of the Spirits board game will materialize in October at retailers worldwide just in time for Halloween.

Like the Nightmare Before Christmas game, it hails from Funko and is inspired by the beloved Disney parks ride.

It’ll accommodate between two and six players and utilize three card decks: a Hitchhiking Ghosts deck, a Ghost Deck and a Haunt Deck. In addition to cards, players will also use tokens and “bid clocks.”

The ghost cards feature Haunted Mansion-inspired illustrations and players get to explore all the classic areas of the ride, including the Attic, Ballroom and Graveyard.

No word on if any Doom Buggies are involved though, but according to Inside the Magic, “Classic bat-stanchion player movers intensify the spooky atmosphere of the game.

Inside the Magic also summed it up perfectly by saying this new game “promises paranormal playtime for foolish mortals everywhere.” Especially for those not able to get to the parks to get their Haunted Mansion fix.
