In this week’s Haunted Headlines, one of the stories I shared was about Dorian Deathly after I saw a story about him in The York Press. According to his Twitter account, Dorian Deathly is a “grimly curious tour guide residing in the city of York.”
Pre-COVID-19, you could find him “walking the cobbled streets on foot or rolling the roads in the York Ghost Bus.” Ever since his country issued a coronavirus-inspired lockdown, however, the Ghost Bus is parked.
But he’s not just a ghost tour guide, as he explains in one of his videos:
Like many of us, I find myself suddenly with a lot of time on my hands. I work in tourism and schools, both of which have ceased to exist for a while. Hopefully not long, but until then I must do something to stop myself from climbing the walls. Join me, as I stream myself out into the internet. I have many stories to tell!
The “something” he’s doing is roaming the streets of York still giving tours –virtually, that is. He’s complying with proper social distancing and all that.
On YouTube
He posted a “Dorian Deathly: Haunted York – A Live (ish) Ghost Tour” on his YouTube.
As you would hope a ghost tour guide would be, he’s very spirited.
He doesn’t just talk about the city’s hauntings, though. He shares all kinds of information about the history and architecture of the haunted places he features.
Some of the sights and ghost stories he shares on his tour include some of York’s most haunted places, such as:
- The York Minster
- Minster Yard
- The Theatre Royal (and its Grey Lady, which he also shared York Gin has a Grey Lady
- The Guy Fawkes Pub
- The Golden Fleece, perhaps the most haunted pub in York
On Facebook
You can also find him on Facebook at Dorian Deathly’s Deathly Dark Tours.
He’s also published a couple of live (ish) videos there, including:
- A Live Tour of Haunted York (Which is the same video that he posted on YouTube)
- Live haunted tour of York (outside city walls)
Not sure if he’ll be posting anymore ghost tour videos, but if he does the best way to know is to do what I’m doing and follow him.
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
