If you’ve listened to any of the Macabre Museum episodes during this season of the podcast, you know I have a thing for museums. But I never knew there was an Edward Scissorhands museum until today. It’s located in the real Florida house that served as the home where the movie’s title character was taken in by the Boggs family.
The trouble is, the home the museum is in just went up for sale again. Which is how I learned about it. The Edward Scissorhands house going up for sale is such a hot topic even our local news had a brief segment on it.
The sale is newsworthy in itself, but there are a couple of other things that make it even more interesting, including its asking price and museum.
Edward Scissorhands House Cost
After speaking with the current owner, Joey Klops, TMZ confirmed the iconic house hit the market for $699,900 on Wednesday, March 2.
If he can get it, Klops stands to pocket a sizeable, not to mention impressive, profit. He only paid $230,000 for the Lutz, FL, house in September 2020. If he gets what he’s asking, that’s three times what he paid for it in just under two years ago!
However, in that short time, he’s also invested some sweat equity and “craftily restored the home to its movie quality, highlighting the whimsical Victorian looks that made it so iconic.”
Also, he opened a museum in it. And, yes, the asking price includes a transfer of all of the artifacts as well too.
This before and after photo from Instagram shows the work they’ve done:

Scissorland: The Edward Scissorhands Museum
Scissorland is what the Klops family affectionately calls the little museum they set up in the house. Movie memorabilia, photos, artwork, scripts, and props fills it. The prop that had the anchors talking the most this morning was the full-sized Edward Scissorhands replica in the kitchen.
Clearly, diehard fans purchased this home. In fact, in another TMZ article about the home and museum, they reported that Joey worked behind the scenes on the movie when it was made.
Joey and his wife welcomed other fans into Scissorland for free by appointment made via their Instagram account: @our_scissorland.
Or maybe they still are until the house sells?
But will the new owners do the same and will they maintain the house’s recreated look? Time will tell. I’ll post an update when I hear anything.
Check-In
Have you ever visited the Edward Scissorhands house or museum?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
I didn’t know there was a real house (or museum). I think it’s really cool how the owners trimmed the bushes to look like Scissorhand’s work.
I thought the way they did the bushes was so fun too!
