The calendar says September 23, 2019 is the first day of Fall. Although, I don’t know about you, but here in Nashville, Mother Nature did not get the memo. Summer is still blazing away, much to my chagrin.
Fall’s arrival heralds the official start of Spooky Season. Although, again…I don’t know about you, but I’m a spooky 24/7/365 type myself.
However, this time of year makes it more okay to celebrate and enjoy the scary and macabre. (People give me a little less of a hard time. Also, I don’t get as many strange looks when I’m out and about with the Skeleton Crew.)
Anyway, what better thing to do than congregate with like-minded spooky types at a paracon or horror fest? You can find ones for every month on the Paracons & Horror Fests page, but here’s a list of them taking place this Fall.

Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
