Thanks to Twitter I learned about the Hotel Vendome’s Ghost Camp. Last week, @vendomehotel sent me a DM with the link to their event. Score another one for Twitter! Love the way it hooks me up with cool people, places, and events.
Actually, I’m already familiar with both Prescott, the Hotel Vendome, and all their haunted charm. I included Prescott in my post about the 14 most romantic places we’ve jaunted to so far. I’ve interviewed Darlene Wilson, owner of A Haunting Experience tour in Prescott. Hotel Vendome is also listed on our Haunted Hotels page. Oh, and another fun connection: my story, “The Gypsy’s Curse,” which is in the Shadow People and Cursed Objects anthology, is set in Prescott.
But a ghost camp? That’s a new one to me. I of course made sure to list it on our Para Events & Horror Cons page, but here’s the details:
Hotel Vendome’s Ghost Camp will be “a special weekend to discover the history and mystery” of the hotel.
The weekend will include:
Guided tour of some of Prescott’s most active paranormal sites and places of historical interest by local paranormal and historical expert Darlene Wilson.
3 special presentations & panels by our guest speakers, all experts in the paranormal field.
Meet and learn from advanced paranormal investigators with unique knowledge, experiences, and specialized equipment.
Dedicated access to most parts of the Hotel Vendome during daytime and evening for explorations and investigations.
Introduction to specialized equipment used in paranormal investigation.
Meet other guests interested in the paranormal and unknown.
Opportunity to share your own paranormal stories, photos, and experiences both past and present.
Included Food, Drink, and Goodies:
Hotel Vendome Ghost Camp welcome basket with cool swag for the weekend.
Welcome reception with a selection of complimentary beer, wine and appetizers.
Catered hot breakfast and Mimosa buffet on Saturday Morning.
Continental breakfast on Sunday morning.
They had Early Bird pricing if you knew about the event and booked earlier, which made costs a little less, but here’s what you can expect to pay:
-
$650* per single room (2 person occupancy)
-
$950* per 2 room suite (4 person occupancy)
* Note: Prices do not include taxes.
Sound fun? It does to me. To make your reservation, call the hotel directly at 928-776-090.
Sadly, I can’t swing it this year, but I’m hoping it’s a success and they do it again next year. Or maybe even again later this year. I owe Arizona a long overdue visit.

Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
