While an appearance on Ghost Hunters investigating with the TAPS team was Meat Loaf’s final TV appearance, Ghost Wars was the last scripted TV series he acted in.
Ghost Wars, a 13-episode scripted horror fantasy drama series, originally premiered on Syfy in 2017. For the most part, audiences liked it. It only received two critic reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, but both gave it a “Fresh” rating. The Rotten Tomatoes audience score was favorable at 68%, which was consistent with 70% of Google users liking it and its 6.1/10 rating on IMDB.
So then why did it only last one season?
Well, as TV Series Finale explained, even though the majority of those who watched the series liked it, the trouble was the audience. It didn’t draw a large crowd. Out of the 14 Syfy scripted series that TV Series Finale followed at the time, Ghost Wars ranked low, coming in near the bottom at 11.
Still, if you never saw it or want to rewatch it again, it’s now available on Crackle. Let’s unpack what it’s about and who else stars in it.

What are the chances that both of Meat Loaf’s last TV appearances were in two-word-titled shows that started with Ghost? (Did that give you chills?)
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
