REMEMBERING BACK
Today’s the big day. One year ago today I launched Haunt Jaunts with “Here There Be Ghosts.”
I only put up a few posts the next month and didn’t start posting on a more regular basis until May. (I was still doing chemo so I didn’t always have energy.)
But on April 28, 2009 I got the joyous news I was in remission and done with chemo and could move on to the radiation phase. It still wore me out pretty good, but not as bad as the chemo did. (I’d be sick for days on end from chemo, then spend days recovering from feeling sick. I’d have one good week and then…BAM! Back to get my “magic juice” and feeling ick again.)
Anyway, I may not have started going gung ho with Haunt Jaunts until May, but it all began on March 30, 2009.
A YEAR LATER
Come 5 p.m. CST today I’ll see what the official Twitter follower count is. Then tomorrow I’ll announce the lucky guesser and the winner of the Haunt Jaunts Dinner & a Movie package.
I’ll also be able to tell the Lymphoma Research Foundation how much money I’ll be able to send them.
I’ve already said thanks before, but it’s worth repeating: thanks so much for all of the interaction this past year.
I’ve had an absolute BLAST reading your comments, reading your blogs (for those who also maintain them), seeing your videos or episodes (if that’s how you’re so inclined), reading your Tweets (for the ParaTweeps I’ve grown so fond of), and in general just having an absolutely marvelous time Haunt Jaunting all over –be it in my regular travels or via the blogosphere.
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
Congratulations, Court! You’ve quickly become one of my favorite “haunts” in the blogosphere, so keep up the great work for many, many years to come! And thank you for fighting the good fight vs. cancer. You’re one tough lady 🙂
Happy blogiversary Courtney! May the spirit of the thyme herb be with you, says that polish psyker 🙂
Happy Anniversary and many many more! Wow a year. Amazing isn’t it?
Good going. Happy this is going so welll for you! (And everything else too!)
Your Pod SIs!
Congrats on all you have achieved this past year. I for one am very glad that you started your blog which lead me to follow you on Twitter and FB. Happy anniversary and best wishes for all the great posts you have coming.
Imagine that! I just found your blog for the first time today.
You definitely have accumulated a lot of material and posts in the year that you have been active. Way too much for me to take in, in just one sitting but I’ll be back to join in on the fun as time allows.
Congratulations!
Jane
Hey, THANKS everybody for your kind best wishes. See? These comments are proof why this past year has been so very much fun. (And funny…you guys have some of the greatest one-liners. I mean to tell ya…;)
And Jane, WELCOME! You found the bog at a good time. Lots going on. Big fun in store in the days ahead. Hope you can take some of it in!
Happy Anniversary, Court! Thanks for all the great work. 1 down, a million more to go.
Love,
Susan
A million! You’re REALLY optimistic! (Or a mystic…what do you know that I don’t? Am I going to be transformed into a vampire or something???)
