If you receive the Haunt Jaunts weekly summary of posts, you may be wondering why you haven’t seen it in your email much the last few months. (If you don’t get it but would like to receive a list of all the posts made each week, see the “Subscribe2” section in the sidebar.)
Well…2014 was slammed with jaunting, writing, jaunting, playing tennis, jaunting, and more writing.
“Writing?” you may be asking. “But you opened this post with how you haven’t posted much.”
Correct. I have not been writing a lot on Haunt Jaunts. In addition to releasing The Shadow Stalker and The Haunt Jaunts Guide to Halloween Hot Spots: The Spookiest Places to Enjoy Ghosts, Ghouls and Scares, I was getting The Ghost of Laurie Floyd ready for publication. (Which is now out, by the way, on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle.)
And then there were all of the jaunts. I wrote a little about the haunted forts of San Juan that we got to explore on one of the two cruises we took out of Puerto Rico. We took a total of three cruises last year, though. We visited 10 countries (11 if you count our layover in Germany, which I like to) and 13 cities (again, 14 if you count our layovers in Frankfurt).
The getting ready to go and the being gone and the recovery upon return threw my schedule, especially my blogging schedule, all out of whack. Because I had deadlines to meet with the books, that came first. If I had time, I’d post on HJ.
Oh, and the tennis. Due to health issues I have, I prioritize exercise. The trouble is, by the time I spend an hour and a half on the court, factor in drive time to and from matches, run errands, and clean up, when I’m ready to sit down and write again I have limited computer time. Therefor, since the books were on deadlines, they came first. My poor, beloved, HJ suffered massive neglect.
I’m hoping to remedy that this year. We’re still planning to do some jaunting, but maybe not as ambitious as last year. (Did I mention last year’s trips were part of my 5 Years in the Clear celebratory voyages? That’s why we went all out. I managed to stay cancer-free for five years and I wanted to celebrate spectacularly!)
Anyway, just wanted to apologize for my absence and explain where I’ve been. Still here.
Here’s some of my favorite photos from the places we saw in 2014.
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
