Last week I wrote to explain how I’ve been haunted by a new disease and that’s why HJ took a hiatus. There’s a bit more to the story I didn’t share that contributed to me stepping away for a few months.
On top of starting out 2013 sick (first with a cold that progressed into bronchitis, which in it’s own way helped spark the diabetes which has since helped me get healthier than I’ve been in a long time), I didn’t share that:
- the WordPress theme I used to have for HJ went wonky all of a sudden and was not loading up properly, which caused chaos, and
- my dog got attacked by a neighbor’s dog and needed surgery.
I loved, Loved, LOVED HJ’s old theme. I couldn’t figure out what was going on with it, if an update had screwed it up or if it needed an update. All I knew was it was creating all kinds of chaos from posts not showing up right to widgets disappearing or malfunctioning if they did appear.
However, even if I’d had the time to try and fix it, I had no energy.
Because on top of dealing with depression and running back and forth to the doctor for more tests, I was also having to chauffeur Murph to vet appointments and do nurse duty for him. Below is a pic of his behind. Perhaps it explains it better than words.
Anyway, there just wasn’t time to fiddle with updating my site, the widgets, the header, etc. Then Spring tennis season started and, well…there went the rest of the time I had. Since exercise is crucial to managing my diabetes, this Spring I decided to let Haunt Jaunts slide and not stress about fitting both tennis and blogging and the rest of Life into each week.
I did find a little time to quickly update HJ’s theme so it wasn’t such a disaster. But last week I had more time to really pick and choose a new theme. Today I had more time to finagle it the way I wanted, including creating a new header.
So, voila! Introducing Haunt Jaunts new and improved look. Hope you like. With this housekeeping task out of the way, I’m even more excited and inspired to roll up my sleeves and start blogging away again!
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
Hey! FAB to see you back! Just been catching up the last couple of posts – good to hear your health is back on track & I might just try that low carb/exercise thing myself …
Have a great day!!
Hi Red! I’ve missed you and reading your blog. I will try to get back to my old ways and visit you again soon. But I am so very glad you stopped by to say hi. Hope all is well with you!
