Skellie and I had a big time having a radio show on ParaMania Radio, but on Wednesday I made the tough decision to quit. Last Tuesday’s show was, well…our last.

Apologies for the sudden departure. I greatly appreciate all who tuned in each week and made the effort to be part of the live studio audience chat room.

Why am I leaving?

In a nutshell: Time.

There just isn’t enough of it, is there?

The thing is, I had planned to do so much more cross promotion between the site and the show.

Such as, writing show recaps every week. I think I did it twice.

I also loved making video show promos and creating the Facebook events but it all adds up.

Making the graphics, or downloading them to add to the video promos…it was taking time away from my…

  1. Writing
  2. Site maintenance
  3. Other projects I want to tackle.

It’s in part why I’ve neglected the Events pages.

I’ve been trying to be better about adding posts here more consistently, but to do that was taking away from guest research and show prep time.

Signs

Because when I do something, I’m all in. It’s the Virgo in me.

I’m a perfectionist at heart and want to do a good job. If I’m rushed or only doing something half-assed, it bothers me enormously.

Last week I was really struggling to get everything done.

And then it hit me: we’re past April 15 and I still don’t have the Paracons and Horror Events page all caught up, none of my books are getting written, and it’s not fair to the guests that I’m not prepping better questions for them.

That was not only bumming me out but stressing me out.

So…as much as it hurt my heart to call it quits, my heart also knew it was time.

What’s Next?

However, my time on PMR was not for naught. It also taught me a lot.

For instance, I can read anything. Such as my show intros. As long as I had a “script” in front of me, I was fine. Off the top of my head is not so good. I get too easily distracted. (I already knew this from past video attempts, which is why I knew to create the radio show intro script.)

Like I mentioned in the New Way to Experience Haunted Headlines, one of the “other projects” I’ve had my heart set on is making videos.

Not just Haunted Headlines, but other types as well.

You know the books I mentioned above? I have a whole slew of “A Haunt Jaunts Guide” series of books up my sleeve.

The two I want to focus on getting out in 2018 are Macabre Museums and Schooled by Ghosts.

It’s the last one, the Schooled by Ghosts, that I’m particularly excited about.

I’ve been working on a written version of it for years, based in part on posts I’ve done here, such as:

But thanks to my Haunted Headlines video experiment, I’m now equipped to do something else: create a Schooled by Ghosts series of videos.

Actually I’ve always been interested in making videos, and have made a few from past trips to post on the YouTube channel or what not, but it was the show promos for PMR that made me realize it’s kind of a passion.

So…here we go. Into new territory.

I’m definitely not crying that my time at PMR is over. I’m smiling for all it taught me and for my newfound focus and determination.

Hope you’ll continue to come jaunting with me!

Like you said, there’s not ever enough time. I didn’t have the time to tune in to you, sad to say, so I understand.
