I don’t care what anyone says. Time waster that Twitter may be for some, it’s been a freaking connection gold mine for me. Haunt Jaunts has two more guest bloggers lined up because of it.
The next one is set up for now under the mysterious/exotic sounding username “skatoolaki.” (Also her Twitter handle, a.k.a. @skatoolaki.)
But her real name I discovered is Shanna Riley. When she’s not Twittering, she pens a blog called Digitopus, “a digital blog of epic proportions.”
Between that tag line and this disclaimer at the bottom of her website: “This page brought to you by our hard-working staff of one-legged, hunchbacked, hair-lipped gnomes with psoriasis,” I do believe we’re in for quite a treat from skatoolaki!
And what is it she might be writing about? The Myrtles Plantation.
She zipped me a Tweet asking if I’d ever been. I’ve been to Louisiana, in particular NOLA a few times. Got some roots that sprouted there, and part of my family tree still remains.
However, I’ve never been to the Myrtles. Of course it’s on my Haunt Jaunting list, but, nope, I have not had the privilege of staying there yet.
I asked if perhaps she had, though, and when she Tweeted back “Its my favorite place ever – I’ve spent the night twice & had a spine-chilling/ awesome experience! Have to write it up for u!” I hopped all over that and extended her a formal invite.
Which she accepted.
So keep an eye out for skatoolaki’s Myrtles post and give her a warm welcome when she stops by.
(I know you will. HJ’s readers are THE best! And you know it, so take a bow and applaud yourselves. Well deserved!)
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
Wow, thank you so much for the warm welcome! I’m so excited to be a guest blogger and thrilled to be able to share my Myrtles story with such an eager audience. I’m trying to get it all down now and to remember every last bit because I don’t want to leave out one, juicy spine-tingling detail!
Thank you again, Courtney, for the opportunity to share my story and guest on your awesome blog. Twitter is, indeed, a special place for bringing folks together. ^_^
Sounds awesome! Look forward to it.
I am definately following her on Twitter and can’t wait for her post.
Cool! Totally looking forward to it.
