Okay, I might have been a little late in the know (and therefore FYIing) about ScareFest, but I’m giving you a little more heads up about HorrorFind Weekend. (Not much, admittedly, but a smidgen more notice. Hey, this is my first year at all this. Next year I hope to (a) still be here and (b) be much more on top of all paranormal and horror-related events.)
WHEN AND WHERE
HorrorFind Weekend is two weeks away, September 25-27, 2009 in Hunt Valley, Maryland.
CELEBS AT HORRORFIND
ScareFest’s going to have quite the celebrity lineup, but HorrorFind’s TV and Movie celebs aren’t anything to sneeze at. Here’s a taste of just a few you can see. For the whole lineup click here.
- Margot Kidder (Superman I, II, and III…)
- Adrienne King (Alice from original Friday the 13th and Friday the 13th II – rare appearance!)
- Fairuza Balk (The Craft, the Sopranos…)
- Corbin Bernson (The Dentist, Masters of Horror, Fangs…)
- Danny Trejo (Dusk Till Dawn, Devil’s Rejects….)
EVENTS AT HORRORFIND
There’s tons, tons, tons to do. This is just some of it. To see the whole shebang, click here.
- Costume contest
- Shopping opportunities for Halloween props, horror memorabilia, movies, books, etc…
- Spooky movie screenings
- Horror author signings and readings
- Haunt, Halloween & Supernatural Seminars
- Scaryoke “karaoke HorrorFind style” (I have one of those innocent faces that couldn’t scare anyone without a mask, but my voice? Sends people fleeing from the room in terror when I try to sing. If that’s what Scaryoke’s all about, I might do well at that!)
- HorrorFind Walk Thru Haunted House (Not sure if it’s a haunted house of Halloween haunted house variety or not. I clicked the link to it from HorrorFind Events page and was taken here. If a true cave system, cool. If set up for premise of their haunted house, cool. Either way it sounds like a cool thing to check out!)
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
Wish I could go! It sounds like a blast and I’m such a geek–I’d love walking around in my costume.
I’d love to be a geek with you and walk around all dressed up! I think it’d be so fun to go to one of these. Maybe next year…
