Yes, I switched the skin again. I loved that one with the hot air balloons and the big moon. (“Gold Moon” is I think what it’s theme was called.) However, there were some issues with some of the widgets. Dagnabit!
So…I hunted some more. Even though there’s no fancy graphics in the header, I’m kind of partial to this one. I like the 3-column design. This time it’s split with the posts column in the middle. (My other theme, which was called “Fat Mary,” was also a 3-column, but it had the blog column on the left and the other two beside that on the right.)
Speaking of my pre-Halloween theme…what was wrong with it and why didn’t I go back to it? I wanted tabs for the pages. I also wanted a built-in search button.
So…until I get a hair to look for blog themes again, I’ll probably stick with this one. (I saw some absolutely beautiful designs, but inevitably there was just enough wrong with them to not make them work. Like I wanted my tagline “a travel blog for restless spirits” to also show up. Some didn’t have that. Or they’d have recent comments and posts up in the header, but my titles were too long for their boxes and went “out of bounds,” which looked like crap. Little things like that…)
But this one seems to have it all. Except groovy graphics. But that’s okay.
Oh, and FYI for all of you who won treats in the Halloween Blog Party Giveaway…I got them all mailed out today!
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
I can totally relate. Seems I have to give up one thing or the other and can’t have it all when it comes to templates. Jeez, we could teach those template designers a thing or two. Like this. It’s very easy to read and soothing.
I have a hard time finding templates that I like too. I am blog design impaired and only know how to use the premade ones that I can copy and paste.
Hi Court!
I did love the look of the old skin, but functionality trumps. Oh, and happy post-Halloween!
Thanks for all the comments, ladies. I’ve now found some flaws with this style, so now I’m on the hunt again. (Like Haunt Jaunts, the header part, doesn’t automatically take you home…irritating!)
I can’t rest (or write) until I have this resolved. It’s making me crazy! I need to have the aesthetics in place…kind of like if the office gets too messy. It distracts me and clogs me up. Until I clean it or get it in order, I can’t write. That’s what’s happening with this “skin” issue…(and part of the problem is because I loved the graphics so much from the Halloween skin. But the other graphics I’ve found…no good on the widget angle…ARGH!)
Thanks for bearing with me until I get myself straight!
