Well, it turns out I didn’t thoroughly research all the horror streaming services out there after all. I missed one. Dark Matter TV. What’s that saying? “Better late than never.” That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Especially because that saying also applies to “Darktober,” their month-long Halloween programming event that started on October 1. An email about it went to spam, which I rarely check, so I just now learned of it —which is also how I learned about Dark Matter TV.

In a nutshell, they’re an AVOD (Advertising-based Video on Demand) of Tricoast Worldwide. Dark Matter TV provides “highly curated collections of superbly entertaining film & TV in your favorite genres: Sci-Fi, Horror, Action, and True Crime.”

Their “Darktober” programming offers content and contests sure to thrill horror lovers. Even though the month is halfway over, there’s still time to enjoy all of “Darktober’s” sinister treats. So, let’s not waste any more time and check out the offerings.

Dark Matter TV New and Exclusive Programming

Dive into the darkness with a carefully curated selection of horror and genre content that will keep viewers on the edge of their seat. Exclusive and new film and television programming includes:

Black Box

A new anthology series created by Tom Sokalski. Five half-hour episodes explore futuristic technology, apocalyptic worlds, and sci-fi horrors. Episodes include “Gearhead,” “Ignurence,” “Obliteration,” “Godmachine,” and “Quarantine.”

Train to Busan

A 95% certified fresh™ cult classic that delivers a thrillingly unique take on the zombie genre.

The Wailing

A 99% certified fresh™ South Korean horror/mystery. Shortly after a stranger arrives in a little village, a mysterious sickness starts spreading. A policeman, drawn into the incident, is forced to solve the mystery in order to save his daughter.

The Golem

A chillingly effective horror story rooted in rich folklore, blending centuries-old stories with timely themes. During an outbreak of a deadly plague in Lithuania, a mystical woman must save her tight-knit Jewish community from a gang of ruffians led by a local landowner, but the entity she conjures to protect them is a far greater evil.

Resurrected Programming

Carefully curated comedies, classics, and international horror films brought back for your home viewing pleasure:

The Slayer (1982)

Two couples become stranded on a rugged isle, and are haunted by a supernatural beast, drawn to the wife of one of the couples, who dreams of its killings. Starring Sarah Kendall, Frederick Flynn, Alan McRae, and Carol Kottenbrook.

Brain Damage (1988)

A soon-to-be cult classic horror/comedy from directors Madison Hatfield and Jono Mitchell. Best Local Feature Winner at the 2022 Atlanta Horror Film Festival. Releasing on Digital + VOD Friday, November 3, coming soon to Dark Matter TV.

You know I’m going to have to watch this one. Not only is my name part of the title, but it’s a horror comedy, my second fave horror sub-genre. The only downside is it deals with possession, which probably means demons, which is my least favorite sub-genre. Oh well, I’ll still give it a whirl when it comes out.
