Writer? We’re looking for the best to join our skeleton crew! No, the pay isn’t great, but Haunt Jaunts is now a paying market.

I’ve always accepted guest posts here at Haunt Jaunts. However, my goal was to one day establish Haunt Jaunts as a paying market for other writers interested in travel, true crime, horror, and the paranormal too.

In order to do that, though, Haunt Jaunts first needed to generate steady income.

Well, after years of hard work, that time has come. Haunt Jaunts finally has room in the budget to offer a small stipend to guest contributors.

Not a fortune, no. Don’t get excited.

But it’s way better than the unique compensation plan I came up with back in 2016. Yikes. Talk about convoluted.

I meant well, though. I firmly believe writers should receive compensation for their work, and this new model accomplishes that in a much better —not to mention more direct— fashion. Let’s take a look.

Haunt Jaunts Pay Structure

Haunt Jaunts will now pay $15 per accepted guest post.

There is a small catch, though. Presently, there’s only enough room in the budget to pay for three guest posts per month.

But that’s the next goal: continue to grow so we can pay for more guest posts. And one day even increase the amount we pay for each post.

However, there is one other way to earn a bonus payment. Exceptional performance posts will also receive quarterly bonus payments.

Exceptional Performance Posts

An exceptional performance post is one that gets at least 5,000 views. Writers who accomplish that will receive an additional $5 per every 5,000 views.

For example, if a post gets 5,000 views in a quarter, that’s an extra $5. 10,000 views = $10. 15,000 views = $15. And so on.

Regardless of which quarter or how many, the bonus continues to be paid. It’s like earning royalty on a guest post.

But what if a post earns a number of views in between the 5,000 marks?

We’ll pay $1 per 1,000 views past 5,000, 10,000, etc. Here are a few examples of what a bonus payment would look like:

  • 7,014 views = $7
  • 16,082 views = $16
  • 19,5050 views = $19

Competitive

I’m not sure how many submissions will come in —or if any will at all.

However, I’m not just accepting anything. Writers first have to pitch an idea. I’m looking for content that not only really wows me but is also both relevant and infotaining.

Future wannabe guest contributors have Willow Croft to thank for setting the bar. Her “Haunt Jaunts 2022 Horoscopes: How will you give up the ghost?” were fresh, unique and so well-written.

That’s the sort of stuff I’d like to see more of. (Not necessarily horoscopes but something fun, interactive, and out-of-the-box.)
