I’ve Got the Award to Prove I’m Strange! (and now I’m passing it on…)

Andrea Alison, who blogs on both Ghost Stories and Southern Writemares, stopped by the other day and left a comment on one of my posts letting me know she had an award for me.

Specifically, the “Strange Men in Pinstripe Suits” award.

The ‘Strange Men in Pinstripe Suits’ award is given to only the strangest of folk, and as the recipient of such you are deemed very strange indeed. Congratulations.

Well, folks, that makes it official. I am strange!

It’s kind of a fun award (well, getting an award is always fun!), but this is more than an award. It’s:

  1. How Cate Gardner is celebrating the pre-release of her book, Strange Men in Pinstripe Suits, and
  2. The “award” also qualifies you for a contest with neat prizes Cate is  giving away.

So now it’s my turn to pass it on. Andrea, thanks again for bestowing this honor upon me!

THE AWARD, THE WHOLE AWARD AND NOTHING BUT THE AWARD

The ‘Strange Men in Pinstripe Suits’ award is given to only the strangest of folk, and as the recipient of such you are deemed very strange indeed. Congratulations.

Now you must go forth and celebrate the strangeness of friends (and strangers – strangers are always allowed) by nominating blogs run by strange folk. *Beware, some people don’t like you to refer to them as strange…Try to avoid them if possible.

Some rules:

  1. Add the logo of the award to your blog post.

  2. Add a link to the person who awarded it to you (don’t mess with strange people).

  3. Nominate seven other blogs telling us why you think the recipient is strange enough to deserve the award.

  4. Leave a message for those nominated on their blogs.

  5. And, if you email catephoenix(at)gmail(dot)com and tell her you’ve received the award for your strangeness, she’ll enter you in the biggest kick-ass Strange Men competition ever. Details over at strangemeninpinstripesuits.com (click on the award link on the home page).

I PASS THE AWARD ON TO THESE STRANGE FOLKS

To avoid appearing like I prefer anyone over anyone else, I listed everybody alphabetically by their first names.

  1. Chris from Frog on the Pumpkin – She goes by the moniker “Frog Queen” and she’s a yard haunter who spends most of the year getting things ready for her Halloween display. Strange, yes…but in a wicked cool way!
  2. Dinell from Weekly Spectre – She’s got multiple personalities for crying out loud! There’s the “sweet” Mommy D baking up sugar-free treats and kid craft fun in Mommy D’s Kitchen, but then she unleashes her “dark side” on the Weekly Spectre –and subsequently on those of us who follow it! Koo Koo Kraziness! (And I love every second of it!)
  3. Jackie from Ghost Lounge – She loves to talk ghosts. Not so unusual for those of us in the paranormal blogging world, but she can not only talk about them but to them. Beware who you’re speaking with if you join in one of her chat room talks!
  4. Jason from The Occult Section – Jason has an impressive resume. He’s co-founder of EPIC (the Eastern Paranormal Investigation Center) and has “dedicated most of his free time to researching and investigating all facets of the unexplained and paranormal, including cryptozoology, ufology and forteana.” Some would say, “Dude, that’s strange. Get a life!” Others, like me, think “Wow! What a neat life!”
  5. Jessica of Ghost Stories and Haunted Places – I’ve actually met Jessica in person. Anyone who meets me sight unseen to walk around a hot as hell, moldy, abandoned hospital until all hours of the night is as strange as me –if not more so! (But I couldn’t have asked for a cooler strange person to share that experience with!)
  6. Steve of Ghost Eyes – Steve and his team, along with his affiliate Southern Ghosts, puts together an “As Seen on TV” ghost hunting experience. Steve gives Regular Joes and Janes the chance to hunt like the pros do. (He’s the one who put together the South Pittsburgh jaunt I met up with Jessica on.) Lots of people thought I was strange for going to do it, but boy did their eyebrows raise when I explained about the guy organizing it!
  7. Terri, creator of Entities-R-Us – She’s a super funny lady who was inspired by the paranormal to make a “ghost hunter comic.” If that’s not strange, I’m not sure what is! Spending your time hunting ghosts is one thing. But drawing people doing it? Strange!

ROFLOL, Syd! That’s funny! Yes, I’m positive sooner or later people would’ve figured it out. I don’t really try to hide my strangeness…

THANKS Brenda! Doing a happy dance!

  3. Thanks for the heads up! Yup, I’ve lost my head too.Lol! I need to hire someone to do my errands. I travel 60 miles a day. Yuku hasn’t gotten back to me about the problem. So I just let it sit there until they do. Oops! My bad. 🙂
The Doors “People are Strange”. Love the song!

  4. Thanks Courtney!! You are the best stranger I know!

  5. You are strange! But I already knew that. I’m not sure strange is the word I would use for myself, but I don’t think there is an award (or a word for that matter) for what I am. 😉

In all seriousness, thank you so much for thinking of me. I enjoy being a bit odd and it’s nice when other loony peps recognize!

    LOVE YOU GIRL!
    Mommy D

  6. Oh that is an absolutely PERFECT song Jackie! LOVE IT! Now I’ll have it stuck in my head all day!

    Jessica: =)

Mommy D: I can think of some words for you…amazing, terrific, delightful, charming, gracious… 😉

  7. I like strange, strange is a good thing 🙂

    Congrats, well deserved.

    Cheers!
