We are excited to announced that Kathryn Hohmann, author of Soldiers Rest, has offered to write a guest blog for Haunt Jaunts. Here’s part of the pitch she sent me:
I’m author of Soldiers Rest, a mystery story that’s based on a true story about Rebels who disappeared in the aftermath of a Civil War battle. The town where the conflict took place, Burkittsville Maryland, was also the site of the movie, The Blair Witch Project. You can check out the book and a bit about the story behind it, at http://www.soldiers-rest.com.
I would love to author a guest post about what–or who– haunts the hills of South Mountain, and why questions linger about the fate of the Rebels.
Honestly, if she hadn’t offered to submit a guest blog, I was going to ask if she’d want to. This is my kind of story. Sounds like a great one and we’re very excited she contacted us. We’re looking forward to reading more about this.
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
We’ll look for it!
Nice. I am excited to read her post.
