When news broke on Jan. 21, 2022, that actor and rock legend Meat Loaf had died, the first thing I thought of was a discovery+/Travel Channel paranormal programming highlight I’d recently posted at the time. One of the highlights was about “The Haunted House on the Hill,” a Ghost Hunters episode that Meat Loaf had joined the TAPS team on.
I tweeted that I wondered if it would be Meat Loaf’s last TV appearance.
Will it turn out that Meat Loaf’s last TV appearance will be as a special guest investigator with the TAPS team on the episode of @ghosthunters that starts streaming on @discoveryplus on 2/12?
Either way, thanks for the music & memories. RIP

The Universe recently provided me with an answer to that question. I got a press release that, in part, contained the following information.
No stranger to the paranormal, the late rock legend Meat Loaf first joined the Ghost Hunters on an investigation in 2009 and has worked with the TAPS team on numerous investigations since. The Bat Out of Hell singer and longtime friend of Jason Hawes, joined TAPS for a final time in September 2021 to investigate an old farmhouse in Tennessee. Rumors of terrifying activity have plagued the property for decades, but the new owners want to reassure the community that their home doesn’t harbor dangerous entities.
It also included the link to a clip on Facebook about Meat Loaf’s final Ghost Hunters investigation, with a little sneak peek of the episode.
Then I came across a People article about the clip that pointed out how Jason Hawes said ghost hunting is what sparked their friendship.
“A lot of people don’t realize with Meat Loaf that he’s been investigating claims of the paranormal for a long time.” Jason Hawes
The article further pointed out, which the clip also alludes to, that Meat Loaf’s final Ghost Hunters appearance wasn’t his only one. He also joined the team for an investigation in 2009 during an episode appropriately titled “Bat Out of Hell.”
The clip ends with a photo of Meat Loaf and the TAPS team and a caption that reads “In Memory of Our Friend Meat Loaf 1947-2022.”
“The Haunted House on the Hill” episode starts streaming on discovery+ on Feb. 12.

Did you know that among his many other talents Meat Loaf was also a paranormal investigator?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
