Movie Monday: Midnight Son

I don’t know why people are so fascinated with vampires still. Just when I think the genre is surely going to die, nope.  Along comes yet another film trying to put a fresh spin on it.

A new vampire movie that came to my attention recently via Twitter is Midnight Son. Here’s the synopsis from their site:

MIDNIGHT SON is the story of Jacob, a young man confined to a life of isolation, due to a rare skin disorder that prevents him from being exposed to sunlight. His world opens up when he meets Mary, a local bartender, and falls in love. Tragically, Jacob’s actions become increasingly bizarre as he struggles to cope with the effects of his worsening condition. Forced by the disease to drink human blood for sustenance, he must control his increasingly violent tendencies as local law enforcement narrow their focus on him as a suspect in a series of grisly murders.

It sort of reminds me of Let the Right One In (a.k.a. the American-made version, Let Me In.) After watching the trailer (posted below) I felt that way even more. It struck me as moody and atmospheric like those movies.

No word on when it’ll be released. It’s in the “Demand It” phase right now. If it piques your interest and you’d like to campaign for it to come to a theater near you, visit their website to cast your vote.

  1. It sounds more interesting than most vampire movies, but I am so tired of vampires I can’t demand anything with them it now.

LOL You both sound like how I feel. Vampires just don’t interest me. (Really they never did.) But once in a while a movie comes along that surprises me, like 40 Days of Night or Let the Right One In. That’s why I figured I’d give this one a chance. It might surprise me too.
