I’ll warn you right off, I have no trailer to share for today’s Movie Monday feature, “The Innkeepers.” All I have is Alison’s post about it that I read on Screamstress last week.

It hasn’t even started filming yet, but she’s got me all excited about it’s possibilities! Here’s her post. You might put “The Innkeepers” on your “Movies to Watch For” list after reading about it too.

If there’s one director I couldn’t be more anxious to see more from, it would be Ti West. He blew me away with his satanic, 80’s throwback The House of the Devil and wooed me with his web series, Dead & Lonely. Now he’s dishing up a story about a haunted hotel in The Innkeepers.

West wrapped a deal he made at Sundance on Sunday with Dark Sky films financing/producing and Larry Fessenden’s Glass Eye Pix. He commented that he intends The Innkeepers to be “a truly terrifying” follow-up to The House of the Devil. Lensing starts in Connecticut this Spring. I have complete faith that West will deliver something unique and creepy as hell.

In the meantime, you can pick up a copy of The House of the Devil on Blu-ray, DVD or purchase this sexy DVD/VHS combo pack like I did. It all gets released tomorrow, February 2. Drool city! There’s also a brand new poster that Mondo Tees has available for purchase on their website for 25 clams. The poster was created by The Silent Giants, measures 18? x 24?, and is signed, numbered and screen printed by the artist in an edition of 100. Go, go get it!

  1. That’s crazy. I have “the House of the Devil” at home now from my Netflix picks. I just popped it in last night while doing other chores and missed some of it, but when I came in to see what was up, it was still before she went to babysit, so I got bored and turned it off. Okay, today I’m determined to see it. I keep hearing people talking about it lately so there must be something there. Can’t wait. Thanks for the heads-up. I love the concept of the creepy innkeepers. Don’t you always feel vulnerable staying in out of the way small places and being at their mercy and their master key–yikes!

  2. I’m going to have to check out this House of the Devil now. Tell me if it’s any good if you finally got through it! And YES…I think that’s why a lot of my stories (fiction) take place elsewhere. There’s more vulnerability being off your own familiar turf that makes horror and spooky stuff even more intense.
