A new friend on Facebook, Karishma Patel, suggested I join the group “The Sky Has Fallen – New Horror Movie.” I’m always game to learn about new horror movies, so I checked it out.
Once I did I not only joined the group but knew I’d have something to feature for Movie Monday today.
If you like zombie/apocalyptic type movies, you might like the looks of The Sky Has Fallen too, a “post-apocalyptic love story.” There’s a genre combo for you!
Here’s the premise:
In a post-apocalyptic world, a new disease wipes out almost all of mankind within a couple hours. Trying to avoid infection, people flee to remote locations, but they start seeing mysterious black figures, carrying away the dead and experimenting on them. Now, Lance and Rachel, two survivors determined to fight back, must kill the leader of these creatures before the rest of humanity disappears.
Here’s a snippet of the review written about it on Behind the Couch:
Described as a post-apocalyptic love story, The Sky Has Fallen weaves together a number of genres and conceptual motifs to create an engaging, thoughtful and highly atmospheric film. The atmosphere is enhanced by the unusually lush and poignant string based score courtesy of James Sizemore.
The DVD is now for sale on Amazon. But if you’d like to try and win a copy, Hayes Hudson’s House of Horror is doing a The Sky Has Fallen DVD Giveaway.
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
Thanks.. I’ll look for that one. I’ve never heard of it but it looks good!
Sounds like an interesting movie. Always like a good zombie flick.
Congrats on winning one of the ID keys over at Ghost Theory!
I’m going to see if I can Netflix it. But you might have a chance to watch before me, Jessica, so I’ll keep an eye out for a review of it on the Zombie Review. 😉
Andrea…what??? THANKS! You’re always stopping by lately with great news!!!
