Is Robert Englund going to be in horror movie news every month from now until Halloween? Not that I’m complaining, mind you. First, there was the hubbub leading up to the release of the Robert Englund documentary. Now there’s buzz about his newest forthcoming movie, Natty Knocks.
However, it’s not just because he’s in it. It’s because the film unites him with two other iconic horror actors: Bill Moseley and Danielle Harris.
Most people associate Englund with his iconic role as Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. (But he’s been in dozen and dozens of other movies.)
Moseley’s had a pretty colorful horror career himself. The movies he’s most known for include Night of the Living Dead (1990), House of 1000 Corpses (2003), and The Devil’s Rejects (2005).
Harris is a rare breed indeed. She started her Scream Queen career as a child actor in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. But she’s since gone on to appear in plenty of other horror movies, including Urban Legend (1998), Halloween (2007) and Halloween II (2009), and Victor Crowley (2017).
If I’ve analyzed my movies correctly, Englund and Harris have been in a movie together (Urband Legend). And she and Moseley both voiced parts in Night of the Living Dead: Darkest Dawn. Moseley and Englund haven’t done a film together, but Moseley did appear in an episode of the TV series Freddy’s Nightmares, which Englund hosted.
But they’ve never all been in the same horror movie. Until now. Let’s look at what Natty Knocks is about and a couple of Easter eggs that pop up in the trailer.
Natty Knocks Synopsis
Here’s the synopsis from the trailer on Vertical Entertainment’s YouTube channel:
On Halloween Eve, a small-town babysitter and the kids she is looking after must survive the horrors of serial killer Abner Honeywell.
Natty Knocks Trailer Easter Eggs
The Rhyme
The very first one I spotted that was super hard to miss was the rhyme:
“She sleeps with the worms under the ground. Who’s that outside? Don’t make a sound. Natty Knocks nine times. Natty knocks nine times. Don’t answer your door. Close all your blinds. Hide under your bed. Or she’ll take off your head.”
Maybe not as catchy as “One, two, Freddy’s coming for you,” but still effective.
The Killer
Around the :42 mark, there’s a voice in the background that says something to the effect of “he came back for me.” It’s right after Danielle Harris’s name is revealed as one of the actors. Coincidence, or Halloween Easter egg? I don’t know, but it definitely gave me Michael Myers vibes.
The Makeup
This might not be an Easter egg. Maybe just more of an association I’m making, but the makeup on a couple of the actors reminded me of Dawn of the Dead (1978) and Day of the Dead (1985).
The Scarecrow
In the post about all the Halloween movie Easter eggs in the Cobweb trailer, Vera Day pointed out a couple of horror tropes she noticed. The scarecrow may be less of a nod to a specific horror movie and fit more in the tropes category. But like the rhyme, it’s effective because it’s creepy.

Check-In
Did you spy any other horror movie Easter eggs in the trailer?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
