It seems like we have a theme developing lately. First came news that The Haunted House Restaurant is set to open soon in Cleveland. Now there’s news of another horror-themed restaurant and bar planning to open sometime this year in Las Vegas: the  Nightmare Cafe.

Al Mancini reported in the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the owners of Nightmare Toys secured the property next to their shop, which they’re in the process of transforming into both a restaurant and additional space for the store.

Let’s take a look at what we know so far about the forthcoming eerie eaterie.

About the Nightmare Cafe

We still don’t know a lot about the specific food and drink items that the horror restaurant in Cleveland will serve, but the Las Vegas Review-Journal got the scoop on what the Nightmare Cafe plans to offer. Apparently one of the partners, Philip Martin, must hail from the south because he told Mancini that “it will reflect the company’s Alabama roots.”

“We’re going to kind of focus on Southern food, so it’s going to be fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, fried okra,” Martin explains. “Then we’re also going to have bar food – chicken wings and burgers and chicken sandwiches and stuff like that.”

And, yes, the menu items will boast “appropriately horrific names.”

Similar to the Haunted House restaurant in Cleveland, though, the Nightmare Cafe also plans to have artwork gracing its walls. In addition to murals by the local arts collective Wall Saints, local horror artists will also get a chance to display and sell their work too.

They’re also open to hosting events, including weddings and kids’ birthday parties. But mostly they hope it’ll become another destination for those visiting Vegas who also check out places like Zak Bagans’ Haunted Museum or Tom Devlin’s Monster Museum.

Which, speaking of Zak’s museum, it’s right around the corner from Nightmare Toys. Close enough you could walk to it. The Monster Museum is a different story, though. It’s located in Boulder City, about halfway between Vegas and the Hoover Dam, so that one requires a car.

About Nightmare Toys

They bill themselves as a “one stop horror shop” and sell everything from pins, toys and decor to masks, clothing and even wrapping paper! They also have a lot of collectibles, including autographed products.

In addition to selling already autographed items, sometimes they also host events where horror movie stars make live appearances with autograph-signing sessions.

You can also find Nightmare Toys setting up at cons, like they did recently at the Days of the Dead horror fest that was held in Las Vegas. (Yes! Cons are back on! Not sure if Nightmare Toys will travel to any of the other Days of the Dead events planned for this year, but the horror fest chain is also going ahead with shows in Indianapolis, Atlanta, and Chicago in 2021. See the Paracons & Horror Fests page for more details.)

Do you collect any horror movie memorabilia?

I don’t. But I’m not going to lie. Just browsing their wares online, I was ready to add things to my cart left and right. I can only imagine the impulse buying that would occur if I took an in-person jaunt to Nightmare Toys!

  1. I don’t collect much (except kisses from the hubster), so no, no movie memorabilia. I wouldn’t mind having a dining menu with appropriately horrific names, though!

AGAIN! You did it again! I love what you collect…now THAT’S truly priceless! But then when you said the menu…Oh man, that gave me ideas! So thanks for being an unintended muse!
