Remember when I asked if haunted drive-ins would be coming to America? Well, it’s not America (yet) but a haunted drive-thru ghost tour is coming to North America. (I’m holding onto hope that a haunted driving experience of some kind, be it a ghost tour or Halloween experience, is on its way in the U.S., though.)

Starting July 16, the Pickering Museum Village in Ontario, Canada, will offer drive-thru ghost tours.

About Pickering Museum Village

Just like its name implies, the Pickering Museum Village is a living history village comprised of 19 heritage buildings (some of which are 200 years old), gardens, and orchards.

Before COVID-19, people could walk around the village, go inside the buildings and see reenactors demonstrating how people lived in the past.

They’re finding ways to make changes in this coronavirus-era we find ourselves living in, though, so they can welcome back visitors. That includes implementing driving tours through the village, complete with audio storytellers, one of which happens at night and involves ghosts.

The Haunted Tour

Here’s the description of the tour on PMV’s site:

Take a driving tour of the historic village at night and hear stories from the past that still haunt us today. Learn about paranormal investigations that have found evidence of spirits and ghosts, and hear stories of past.

Tour-goers can expect to hear about otherworldly encounters at the museum and ghost stories collected from past staff and volunteers. They also share the results of a paranormal investigation that happened at the village.

The drive-thru experience includes a sanitized audio guide that will take visitors through hauntings of their 200-year-old buildings and share the details of encounters with ghosts and spirits.

According to DurhamRegion.com, one of the ghost stories on the tour is about the old inn and tavern. One side was the inn and tavern, but the owners lived there too on the other side. (On the other side of the building, that is. Not The Other Side, as in the Beyond.)

People often report having an experience at the top of the stairs on the public side of the building. They describe feeling a presence pushing them as if wanting to prevent them from entering. Is it the ghost of a young servant girl or perhaps a guest that once stayed there but never left?

Date and Times

The haunted drive-thru ghost tour will happen Thursday nights starting July 16 through October 29 from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m.

Tickets

The tour is $20 per vehicle.

  1. This makes so much sense. I’d definitely do it (even though I’m a scaredy cat!) I bet drive-thru tours catch on.
