Psychic Kids reboot poster

Life is overwhelming enough for adults, whether you have a psychic ability or not. But what about for kids? It can be even harder for them to make sense of the world. Add in unexplained and supernatural phenomenon and then what? If your parents can’t help –or, worse, don’t believe you– who do you turn to?

Enter stage right Psychic Kids, a reboot of a show by the same name that first aired in 2008. The new Psychic Kids premieres Wednesday, August 21 at 10pm ET/PT on A&E.

The Show

Ten years ago, the original Psychic Kids chronicled the journeys of children who were learning to control their extraordinary abilities –and it changed their lives.

In eight all new episodes, those original kids, who are now successful young adults, will work to empower a new generation of young psychics. They will spend time with the children and their families to assist them in not only taking control of their paranormal abilities, but also showing them the remarkable power of their immense gifts.

The Psychic Kid Counselors

Here’s who you’ll see on the first episode:

  • Peri appeared on an episode of Psychic Kids as a 15-year-old girl overwhelmed by spirits. She saw and heard them all around her asking for help, but she didn’t know how. Back then she wanted it to stop, but these days she views it as a gift and wants to help others help hone theirs. Will Peri be able to help nine-year-old Kendyll, who is frightened by the spirits haunting her in her own home?
  • Ryan was on Psychic Kids when he was 16. He’s since gone on to give more than 6,000 psychic readings and works with the FBI on missing persons cases. Will he be able to help nine-year-old boy Ethan, who feels isolated because of his gifts?

The Kids

Whether you believe in psychic abilities or not, it’s hard to watch young kids being tormented by the unknown. Do they just have really active imaginations? Are they trying to make sense of hard things happening in real life? Or do they really have an ability?

My heart broke watching both Kendyll and Ethan at first. Such sweet, innocent kids who would not call what they have “gifts.” But with Peri and Ryan’s help, perhaps they can learn some techniques and get a grip on things?

No spoilers here. And really time will tell what will happen with their destinies.

I will say though that if you were a fan of the original Psychic Kids, you may enjoy seeing what happened to some of the kids who first appeared on the show and how they’re now working to help others.

  1. I don’t remember Peri (MAYBE, if she was the girl from SC), but I do remember Ryan. I am glad to hear these two psychic kids have grown up and embraced their gifts. I’m sure it was a tough journey. It’s pretty cool the show has been rebooted!

They did say where she was from but now I can’t remember. She seemed really sweet though. It was neat to see the flashbacks to when the kids appeared on the show and then to see them in present and how much they’ve grown up.
