Haunt Jaunts first post went live March 31, 2009. At the time, I was several rounds into chemo, but not done yet. That wouldn’t come for a couple more months. March 31, 2009 was a day I finally felt well enough to get off the couch and move my life into the direction I had resisted prior to getting cancer.

Funny. Cancer is one of the scariest things to have ever happened to me. But because of it, I finally found the courage to live the life I’d imagined but had never given myself permission to pursue beforehand.

HJ started off as a little experiment blog on Blogger. Then, as my passion swelled and my energy increased as healing happened, I knew I wanted my blog to be bigger and more flexible. Blogger wasn’t going to be good enough.

So in August of 2009, I moved HJ’s platform to WordPress. Smartest move I’ve ever made.

The blog has seen several design and logo changes over the past three years. So have I for that matter.

I thought it’d be fun to share some pics I’ve never shared before. Ones of me in all my bald-headed glory as I fought to beat cancer, through my bandana days, to present time.

But before I share the pics, I have a special note for my hitchhiker (a.k.a. my pet name for my cancer): Thank you for coming into my life. I needed to be taken to Death’s door before I fully embraced Life. Haunt Jaunts is an example of one of the blessings I now I enjoy because of you. Thank you for guiding me to this journey I now find myself on. I’m having the time of my life exploring new places, revisiting old ones, and meeting amazing people along the way. Blessings to you for these gifts you have given me.
