Just a couple of days ago I had a Twitter exchange with Courtney from The Ghoul Guide about the Saratoga County Homestead in Providence, New York. I’d tweeted a general question asking whoever saw it, “Where’s your haunted happy place?” The Ghoul Guide responded with a photo of herself in front of the Saratoga County Homestead, or just the Homestead as locals and paranormal investigators affectionately call it.
It’s hard to pick, but if I had to, I’d say it’s the Homestead. pic.twitter.com/0Y0oV2Ixgh

Then @AmandaFidler26 commented on The Ghoul Guide’s post about how she was sad the property was for sale and if she had the money she’d totally buy it.
Can’t believe the homestead is for sale ? if I had the money I would totally buy it. It’s a part of history.

Well, that was the first I was hearing of that, which I thought was sort of surprising. A lot of times stories like that flood my Google Alerts, but I hadn’t seen anything about it. Yet.
Haunted Saratoga County Homestead for Sale
Today a story about the Haunted Saratoga County Homestead being for sale appeared in my feed from an unlikely source, ESPN Radio 104.5 FM. That’s where I learned that in 2019 a military veteran from Texas purchased the former tuberculosis clinic and nursing home, which has been abandoned for decades. He planned to turn it into a veteran’s retreat, but that didn’t quite pan out. He was really great about opening it up to paranormal enthusiasts though.
In addition to appearing on an episode of Destination Fear, one of the companies on our Ghost Hunting Event Companies & haunted Places page, Haunted Nights, leads tours of the property, with proceeds going to restoration costs.
The Saratoga County Homestead made for a suspenseful Destination Fear episode. As Dakota put it, their experiences with shadow people and human trespassers made for a tough start of the haunted road trip that kicked off the second half of season 2.
But if the current owner gets his asking price, or exceeds it like what happened with the sale of the Conjuring house, he’ll turn a nice profit. As BJ the Web Guy shared, the current owner paid $55K for it in 2019.
The guy bought it for $55k in 2019 and is selling it for $250k? Must be nice…

Must be nice, indeed. That’s a pretty good return on investment.
$250K = Ghost, 25 Acres, and a Caretaker’s House
So what do you get for the $250,000 asking price? Presumably the restless spirits said to linger on the property, which consists of the hospital building (or, rather, what still remains of it), the caretaker’s house (which is also abandoned and dilapidated), and 25 acres.
But if you want it, you better act fast. Word on the street (the “street” being Twitter) is that possible new owners are already showing interest in acquiring the Homestead.
Apparently the property managers are in talks with some potential buyers and they’ll hopefully still make it into a haunted spot for investigators! So there’s still hope!

Have you ever visited the Saratoga County Homestead?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
