HauntedHouseRatings.com does not rate or review the haunted houses. It lets those who visit them (“the victims” as they like to think of them) do the rating.
In addition to the Top 13 list, they also have an America’s Best Top 31 list of haunted houses. So if you’re looking to find haunted houses others were willing to rate, write, and sometimes rave about, this is a great site to visit when planning your Halloween jaunts this season.
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.

Hey Andy! Both sound awesome and how lucky for you they’re right in your city!!!!
Ive actually been to alot of those Haunted houses, and Most deserve a position on the Top 13, some not so much. As someone who visits every single Haunted House possible every year in Michigan, I have to say my favorite semi local Haunt is http://www.DarkSydeacres.com They are HUGE and the scares never end… 🙂
You are braver than I, Jay. I’m really a sissy when it comes to them so I’ll have to take your word for it that Dark Syde is a good one. Love that you stopped by to talk about your visits!
