Ghost stories. Haunted mazes. Costume contest. Dead Man’s prom night. All of that sounds like activities you’d find during Halloween, right? But what if next year you didn’t have to wait until October to let your horror flag fly? What if you could wave it like crazy in early 2023? Like, within the first two weeks of the new year.
Well, thanks to the Fear Faire Friday the 13th Music Festival, you can! It’s one of two horror fests happening in January 2023 that we have listed on the Paracons and Horror Fests page. (The other is Days of the Dead in Atlanta.)
As organizers proclaim on their website, the Fear Faire Friday the 13th Music Festival is “not just a festival…it’s a party! It’s a celebration! It’s entertainment!”
With three stages hosting 20 bands, a film festival, and shopping, plus plenty of other activities, it definitely sounds like the place to be to get your horror, Halloween, and paranormal fix. Even better, it’s in Southern California. If you live in a colder clime, that means it’s also a perfect way to scare away winter’s bite. Let’s check it all out, starting with specifically when and where it’s happening.

Check-In
Do you think three days is enough for all Fear Faire has to offer?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.
