Several other major Halloween haunts canceled this year amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, including Terror Behind the Walls, Dark Harbor and Halloween Horror Nights. However, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, the world’s largest regional theme park company, has decided to give the ax to its traditional annual Fright Fest to make way for a new, safer Hallowfest experience.

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, the world’s largest regional theme park company, leads the way for Halloween thrills and chills with a new event for the entire family—Hallowfest. The event will feature Thrills by Day with plenty of family-friendly activities and Chills by Night with rides on monster coasters…in the dark and haunting Halloween theming throughout the parks.

Here’s what you can expect from the seasonal event.

Hallowfest Thrills by Day

The thrills by day include:

  • Trick-or-Treat Trails with individually packaged candy and treats
  • Kids’ Halloween Costume Contest for children 8 and under (all costumes must accommodate kids to keep their face masks on though)
  • Kids’ Spooky Kooky Magic Shows
  • Kid-centric Which Witch Mazes where guests will be routed through one-way cornstalk or hay bale mazes
  • Halloween-themed specialty treats, like gooey caramel apples and funnel cakes made with Snickers candy, available for purchase.

Hallowfest Chills by Night

  • Creepy fog, eerie lighting, and sinister music will permeate the park and create the perfect seasonally spooky backdrop
  • Six Flags’ signature collection of world-class roller coasters will accommodate riders to fly through the air at high speeds in total darkness
  • Halloween gear aplenty will be available for purchase
