I’m excited to finally announce SPOOKHOUSE THEATER! This has been a long time in the making and a dream come true for me. I have always wanted to own my own outdoor theater! I can’t wait to share it with everyone. I’ll be doing monthly screenings starting in April – the grand opening is on Saturday, April 4th! Come enjoy a unique throwback movie-watching experience with fellow horror/cinema fans at a place where Halloween never ends! Each night will be a themed double-feature: “90s horror,” “80s slasher flicks,” “sci-fi double feature,” etc …movie titles will only be revealed when we hit play! Keeping with the spirit of a traditional Drive-In theater, SPOOKHOUSE THEATER’s audio is transmitted via FM radio. Admission is by donation only, with a suggested donation of $10 per person (exceptions include the Spookhouse Theater Annual Summer Campout & The Myers House NC Annual Halloween Bash in October). So, bring a chair or blanket, an FM radio and get ready to watch spooky movies under the stars! …just beware of The Boogeyman. UPCOMING EVENTS: • SATURDAY, APRIL 4, 2020: Spookhouse Theater Grand Opening – Babysitter Murder Night • SATURDAY, MAY 2, 2020: Spookhouse Theater – 90’s Horror Night • SATURDAY, JUNE 13, 2020: Myers House NC – Spookhouse Theater 1st Annual Summer Campout ***SUMMER CAMPOUT TICKETS NOW ON SALE *** LINK IN BIO FOR ALL INFO! ?? An Outdoor Theater
According to the post, Spookhouse Theater is the fulfillment of a dream that the Myers House NC’s owner, Kenny Caperton, has long held: to have an outdoor theater.
Which I happen to think is a pretty cool dream. In the summer, I love nothing better than an outdoor movie night in my backyard.
Except my backyard isn’t really ideal for outdoor movie watching. Too much traffic from our neighborhood, as well as planes above. (We’re in the flight path for landings at BNA. Which didn’t used to be so bad, but as Nashville’s grown and got busier, so has the air traffic.)
Anyway, Caperton’s wooded property offers plenty of space. I’m also thinking sound won’t be an issue. He’s got a pretty neat idea how to transmit the audio.
BYOR (Bring Your Own Radio)
Spookhouse Theater won’t quite be a drive-in, but the idea is similar. The audio will be transmitted via FM radio.
What you do is bring an FM radio, tune it to the appropriate station, sit back in the lawn chair or blanket you’ve also brought, and enjoy the movie.
Speaking of, what kind of movies will be shown?
Themed Movies
Movies will be themed double features. For instance, upcoming Spookhouse Theater theme nights include:
- Saturday, April 4, 2020: Babysitter Murder Night – Grand Opening!
- Saturday, May 2, 2020: 90’s Horror Night
- Saturday, June 13, 2020: Myers House NC – Spookhouse Theater 1st Annual Summer Campout
Admission Price
A donation of $10 per person is suggested.

Check-In
When’s the last time you went to a drive-in or watched a movie outdoors?
Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
